Delivery, unpacking and assembly
You have received two deliveries. One delivery with the vending machine itself with all shelves and scales in boxes inside the vending machine. You have also received a separate package with a "computer".
Place the vending machine where it should stand. A bit away from the wall, vertical and stable.
Open the door and take out all the boxes.
Remove the "transport tape" and other labels.
Attach the included label where your unique QR code is visible.
Mount scales and shelves
There are 5 scales and 5 shelves. These are spread out with appropriate spacing between. For each shelf, 4 clips should be mounted. We recommend these levels to get even distances between all shelves. bla bla bla. A clip looks and works like this:
Now a shelf can be mounted on a scale.
Now mount the scale and shelf, which is now one unit, on the four clips that were just mounted. The recommendation is to start with the top shelf. Note not to mount the top shelf too high. There is a marking inside the vending machine.
Now the network cable inside the vending machine should also be connected to the scale.
Repeat this step for all shelves.
Mount computer
Current design April 2026.
The computer is delivered separately in a black box which is placed on top of the vending machine or alternatively on the back.
The five network cables from inside the vending machine should be connected according to the color codes numbered 1-5. There are markings inside the black box 1 2 3 4 5.
There is also a USB cable from the vending machine that should be connected inside the box. Any free USB port will do.
The computer needs to be connected to your local network with a cable. There is also a marking inside the box "Internet".
The computer also needs power. Use the included power strip to connect both the computer and the vending machine.
Connect power
Double-check all connections, couplings, etc. are correct. Double-check that all shelves are properly and stably mounted.
Now connect the extension cord to a wall outlet so both the vending machine and computer get power.
Now verify that HonestBox has contact with the vending machine
Configure all shelves in HonestBox Admin
All shelves must be configured and every product to be sold must have a designated place. This work is very important for the vending machine to function. Since it works with weight, weight is very important.
Measure and weigh all products
All products to be sold must have height, width, depth, and weight. It is very important that these details are carefully determined. So take out the tape measure and start measuring. Take out a scale and start weighing.
All these details must be entered on the product in HonestBox Admin for each product.
Place all products in the vending machine
Place all the products to be sold in the vending machine. Note that there are certain rules for it to work:
- Two products with exactly the same weight cannot be on the same shelf.
- Two products with almost the same weight should not be on the same shelf.
- Be careful and place them so they fit, do not overlap each other. Feel free to use the dividers. See pictures below.
Configure the shelves in HonestBox Admin Planogram
HonestBox Admin - Products - SmartVending Planogram.
Start by clicking on a shelf - a row. Preferably the first one.
Now you can add the products that should be on that shelf by searching for a product "Select product" and then Add.
Now you can widen or reduce the number of products in width using the minus / plus icons. Note that the minimum width is 120mm.
Continue by adding the next product.
If the number of products does not "fit evenly," click on "Fill shelf with last product" and the shelf will be filled so the shelf is 100% full.
When a shelf is full, click Validate. If it goes well, click Save. If it goes well, click Activate and that shelf is now ready.
Continue with the other shelves.
When you are finished you can go back to see an overview with all shelves in one view.
Payment solution
The only payment solution that works in this vending machine is Viva.
You must decide on a reservation amount. Today, April 2026, the reservation amount must be higher than an expected purchase. For example, if you have a reservation amount of 200 SEK, a customer cannot shop for more than 200 SEK. If a customer picks items so the total amount exceeds the reservation amount, a coupon will be created so the purchase amount equals the reservation amount. After that, you as the store owner will manually adjust the difference with the customer. You will also receive an email about this. Soon a customer will be able to shop for more than the reservation amount.
When the customer starts shopping, the reservation amount will be reserved on the customer's card. After purchase, the difference against the actual amount the customer has shopped for is released.
What is a suitable reservation amount? Hard to say. It should be high enough so that if a customer chooses to steal, that amount is charged to the customer. It should not be so high that some customers cannot shop if they do not have that much money on their card. Also, the amount will be reserved for about 24 hours and during that time the customer cannot shop for that money. Difficult. Unclear.
Shopping
As always when you have done something, it is good to do a test purchase. So in connection with making changes, it is good if you yourself perform a test purchase. Here is a description of how a purchase goes for your customers:
Scan the QR code
As always in the HonestBox world, the customer starts by scanning a QR code. The customer uses their mobile phone and camera app. That app has a built-in function to interpret the QR code and open the HonestBox system which is a web page.
No login is needed. Those of you familiar with the HonestBox system from before will realize now that the customer does not need to log in. All to make it as smooth as possible.
The customer now comes to a view showing an overview of how everything works. Step-by-step guide.
The customer proceeds and sees a price list with all the products in the vending machine.
When the customer is ready, they choose to continue by pressing the "Start shopping" button.
Now an amount should be reserved from a card. Credit or debit card. Apple Pay / Google Pay also works of course for customers who use it. When the customer has paid the reservation amount, they are prompted to start shopping by opening the door.
The customer opens the door and the view with the price list appears again.
Now the customer should pick the items they want to buy. One at a time.
Immediately when an item is picked, it is shown on the mobile phone, it is automatically added to the customer's shopping cart. Completely automatic and lightning fast.
It is possible to put back a product and then it should be placed in the correct spot, otherwise a warning is shown.
When the customer has picked the items they want to buy, it is shown in the shopping cart and the total amount is displayed. When the customer is done, they close the door. The purchase is complete and the money / new amount is adjusted based on the reservation price.
Customers see a receipt on their mobile phone and the purchase is complete.
The purchase is shown under Sales / Receipt in HonestBox Admin. A purchase can be returned.
